The letter of the alphabet's signatories include the artist Chuck Shut, the writer Jhumpa Lahiri, the architect Thom Mayne and the "Jersey Boys" actor John Lloyd Young. The Washington Mail service offset reported that the commission members were resigning.
Created in 1982 under President Reagan to suggest the White Business firm on cultural issues, the commission is known for developing programs like Turnaround Arts, which aims to improve academic performance and increase educatee engagement through the arts. Artists each adopted ane of the country's lowest-achieving schools; the plan is at present independently run by the Kennedy Center.
